After producing my Stop motion animation I wanted to see what people thought about my animation so I made a survey monkey questionnaire so people could answer certain questions so I could understand the things that went well and the things that didn't go so well on my animation.  The place of my animation was set in my home town about a five minute walk from where I live so it was handy. Stop Motion is a trendy style of animation. A big combination between clay work and something to take many photos on is quite popular this has created things like : Wallace and Grommit, Chicken run and pingu which uses stop motion techniques to make a story this is mainly used for cartoons as it entertains kids. The first episode was made in 1990 and directed by Christopher Sadler Peter Sallis was one of the people whose voice was used in Wallace And Gromit who has unfortunately died the other day. With combined skills of clay design and creativity the show became very successful that also made a few films.

Shaun the sheep is a more recent example of stop motion which was also a very popular show aimed at kids the creator of this also made Wallace and Gromit who is called Nick Park. Nick Park has a broad and imaginative brain. He has created animations that have become a nation wide success.

Nick Park's work relates to my time lapse animation as it requires the same technique which is to take photos constantly which when played back sorta looks like a flowing video. With Claymation you can take a photo of a clay model stood still then move one of the models body parts then take photos of the movement independtly so when its watched back at a faster speed it looks like the model is moving in a flowing motion.  For my animation I placed a camera in a still position and took photos of a the same place and the exact same thing the only thing that was changing was the weather an the colours of the photos which were getting darker and darker each frame as the day was turning into night.  I think the animation I made was quite good after I bought the equipment I was on my way. I liked the outcome of the animation however the camera kept moving so when played back the camera seems to jump into different places and angles.

In conclusion I made a survey monkey to send to my friends and family to get their opinion of my stop motion animation. The thing that I wanted to produce was the day light turning into dark with a nice landscape in the background which is what I got.

The following photos are questions I asked and the responses that they gave me everyone liked the animation that I made most people said the best part of the animation was the place that was chosen for the time lapse . The main criticism that I got was the place of the camera and how it kept moving around. So this is the main thing I would change about my stop motion animation. This can be prevented by making sure the tripod is secure and not loose so that it doesn't move around. This would improve the quality of the video. On the video this is quite a visible thing to see so fixing it will be a good thing to do.

Here is a video of my time lapse and a time lapse that someone has made and put up onto YouTube their time lapse consists of the making of a world trading centre the main thing I liked about this stop motion is the different angles. Time lapses take as long as it takes for the thing your filming to change until you want. So my time lapse of light turning into dark only took about 2 hours as it was in the winter however buildings take ages to make especially sky scrapers which probably take years to make so the time to make the animation would be long and will be very time consuming I also think its very good that the time lapse starts off with the building not being there and then its slowly moving up and up full with builders building there way up. But the time lapse makes the action of the building look fast. Survey monkey wouldn't let me add more questions to my survey so I have to add them onto this
Question 6: What so you think the genre is?
Answer one: I think its Gothic because its in Whitby
Answer two: Gothic
Answer three: Action and adventure
Answer four: Travel

Question 7? What technique did you think I used for this?

Answer one: Stop Motion
Answer two: Time Lapse animation
Answer three: Stop motion
Answer four: Stop motion animation

Today I will look into how long my time lapse will take to make. The sun will typically at 8am and will be at it's around its highest at 12:00PM but I am only wanting to capture the sun before it reaches the highest point. I will have to get ready 30 minutes before 8am and start filming because that when it will be dark.

The sunset will start to lay at around 3pm so I will have to start my time lapse at 2:30pm so I can capture the darkness turning into light.

This lesson I have found out how long and white time I should start my time lapse recording of sun set and sun rise.

Analyse the significance of the work of two key animators from different time periods.

Hanna-Barbera- William Hanna and Joseph Barbera were really big back in the day, they created the company in 1957 there prime time for making Television cartoons was between 1957 and 1969 with cartoons like; The Ruff and Reddy Show,Yogi Bear,The Quick Draw McGraw Show in 1959, The Honeymooners,Scooby and the Flintstones which ran for 6 seasons on ABC prime time it used to be the longest running prime time show until The Simpsons ruled it out in 1996. Hanna Barbera chnaged the cartoon world for kids and adults.

Seth Macfarlane
Seth is the creator of Family Guy and the co creator of American Dad and The Cleaveland show,He also directed TED and TED 2. After graduating from Rhode Island school of design her was recruited to Hanna Barbera for several tv shows; Johnny Bravo,Cow and chicken,Dexters laboratory,Iam weasel and Larry and Steve. The work of Family Guy has put this man in the spotlight which was made in 1999 which has given Seth a staggering net worth of approximately $150 million . Family Guy is an adult cartoon animation of a family. Most adults hate Family Guy because of the language and stupidity it sends out to the youth but most teens love the tv show. It is one of the most known adult animations alongside of The Simpsons and South Park. Each episode of family guy costs around $2 million. The four voice actors that aren't done my Seth earn around $225,000 per episode. Its fair to say that Seth has saved himself a lot of money from doing most of the voices himself. Family guy has hooked loads of viewers over the years I could not live without the golden comedy.

The work of 2 key animators from 2 diffrent time periods

John Aryton Paris was the creator of the Thaumatrope
The first ever analogue type of animation was the thaumatrope which was a very popular toy in the 19th century, it is a very simple structure with 2 drawings on either side, one side could be a drawing of a bird and on the other side a drawing of a bird cage. Then if you put a loop of elastic band on either side of the disk and spin you will see the illusion and it will look like the bird is stuck in the cage if done right. Even though the invention was made many many years ago it is still seen around in movies such as :Hugo the film where in the final scene a conversation about cinema precursors falls in line which included a thaumatrope, also in the film Sleepy Hollow Johnny Depp uses a thaumatrope. In 2012 a discovery was made in a cave somewhere in France. The traumatrope was the first instrument to use the persistence of images on the retina. This stimulation made a combination of instruction and amusement for kids, This made Paris realise.

2 key animators.

WALT DISNEY
The founder of Disney which owns Dreamworks and Pixar is pretty much the king of animation. To date most of the animation movies made now are coming from Disney, to this date Disney production are responsible for making 492 animation movies and has a net worth of $5billion

In 1940 the animation film Pinocchio was made which is a musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions. The original Pinocchio was made Carlo Colloid.   This is a link to the original Pinocchio trailer.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKAX3IjyluQ

Tray Parker\Matt Stone

Tray Parker and Matt Stone are two of my favourite animators who created South Park

Describing how animation works.

Animation is just still pictures that move. Animations can be made by drawing or coding. For example if you draw a cat jumping in different stages and move from one drawing to another really quick it will create an illusion that the cat is jumping. This can be made using a flip book animation technology. All you have to have is a not pad and something to draw with.

The Zoetrope is a cylinder with slits in all around the shape, inside the zoe trope a band with drawn images is fitted neatly, once you turn the Zoetrope at a average speed you can look through the slits and watch the animation that has been drawn on the band. The Zoe trope gets his name from the Greek term Zoe which means life and trope which means turning. The zoe trope was created in 1833 by the mathematician William George Horner.

Traditional animations
The first film accorded animation which was called Humorous Phases of Funny Faces by J. Stuart Blackton in 1904

Walt Disney and the Warner Bros.

1923 a company called laugh-o-grams went bankrupt, the owner of this company was called Walt Disney, after that he started a new company in LA their first animations were Alice comedies. The made their breakthrough in 1928 from steamboat willie, it was the first animation to have sound

The television era
Colour TV was introduced in US in 1951 and 7 years later Hanna Barbere realesed Huckleberry Hound, Hanna Barbere also made a popular cartoon in 1940 called Tom and Jerry Hanna and Barbera made 114 shots for Tom and Jerry between 1940 and 1957

The first ever animation film that was completely made from CGI was made it 1995, that was called Toy Story...The rest is history.    Another great sitcom animation is The Simpsons, created by Matt Georging it is the most well known cartoon to date having over 550 episodes the amazing show first appeared on December 17th in 1989. Matt Georgeing has a net worth of over $500 million but not all of that money has come from Simpsons, he also made a sitcom animation called Futurama.
