The first ever analogue type of animation was the thaumatrope which was a very popular toy in the 19th century, it is a very simple structure with 2 drawings on either side, one side could be a drawing of a bird and on the other side a drawing of a bird cage. Then if you put a loop of elastic band on either side of the disk and spin you will see the illusion and it will look like the bird is stuck in the cage if done right. Even though the invention was made many many years ago it is still seen around in movies such as :Hugo the film where in the final scene a conversation about cinema precursors falls in line which included a thaumatrope, also in the film Sleepy Hollow Johnny Depp uses a thaumatrope. In 2012 a discovery was made in a cave somewhere in France. The traumatrope was the first instrument to use the persistence of images on the retina. This stimulation made a combination of instruction and amusement for kids, This made Paris realise.
